Mother's Day Gift Guide: The Classic Mom

As hard as it is to believe, we are a month into Spring and Mother's Day is coming up quickly! This being a busy time of year for a lot of us, it can be hard to figure out that perfect gift for Mom. My mother tends to have a more classic, refined style, and I find that it takes a while to find her a gift that reflects her low-key, yet sophisticated personality. After spending a bit of time brainstorming, I've compiled a handy gift guide for some Mother's Day inspiration!

First on my list for $50.00 is this adorable set of teacups and saucers from indigo.ca. This set of four is brightly coloured and cheerful, and such a cute gift idea! Your mom will be throwing tea parties in no time.

Next up for $21.00 is the Cherry Blossom Tin from Purdy's. Chocolate almost never fails to please, and what Mom wouldn't appreciate a sweet treat for Mother's Day?

The third item I chose for $95.00 is our Leandra Labradorite necklace in silver. This is the perfect delicate gemstone necklace to complete that classic look. I find that it's elegant without overdoing it.

Fourth, for $30.00 are our Kelly earrings. I actually gave these to my mother last year and they are a staple in her wardrobe! They go with pretty much everything in her closet, and she can wear them every day.

Last on my list for $44.99 is the Grosche Madrid French Coffee and Tea Press from The Bay. My mom is a coffee addict, and she would love a good quality French press. They're so low maintenance and easy to clean, so it makes a great gift for the busy coffee-loving mom!

JEWELRY TIPS: How To Care For Your Jewelry

How do you care for your jewelry when you're not wearing it?

It's really easy and I'm going to show you how!

We all love new jewles don't we?! They're so shiny and sparkly and perfectly pretty. But, as time goes on your jewelry tends to darken and lose their luster. No one likes that. But, there is a really simple way to keep your jewelry looking brand new. The reasons why your jewelry darkens/tarnishes is because of oxygen (the air) and light. If you keep your jewelry out of the way of air and light, you will easily be able to keep your jewelry looking new.

The first step is to put your jewelry in air tight, sealable bags. When you purchase your jewelry from us, we always pack it in a small sealed bag that is perfect for you to store your jewelry in, and you can purchase these bags locally if you don't have any on hand. 

One main thing to remember is to always leave your necklace clasp outside of the bag like we've shown in this picture. This will prevent your chain from getting tangled. Yay, no more tangled, knotted chains!

The final step is to keep your jewelry in a box or container that is away from the light. You can also store your jewelry in one of our boxes that comes with your order! Keeping your jewelry away from the light and air with these simple tips will add new life and longevity to the pieces that you adore.

BROOKLYN STYLE: Spring Outfit Inspiration

Spring is officially here and we're loving all of the fresh blooms and vibrant colours sprouting from the earth. Another part of spring to love? New fashion!

We're thrilled with this seasons more muted and sophisticated colour palette, and

one of my favourite shades for the season is Clay. A more earthy version of Coral, this warm neutral is complimentary to nearly every skin tone and is a versatile colour to own.

How amazing is this cardigan from Zara? The rich colour and knit texture of this piece is what makes it such a great item to have in your closet this season. You could easily wear this sweater year round and pair it with lots of great pieces in your wardrobe. I've paired it here with a 70's inspired print shirt dress & skinny belt from H&M, sandals from Franco Sarto and a navy blue bag from Fossil. 

Complete the look with a pair of our Aqua Chalcedony Marilyn studs, Hampton ring, Skye bracelet and our new Vega cresent moon Y necklace.
